Some of you may have shuddered a little at part of the tone in previous posts which emphasized the outlining of the 10, 30 to 60 day juice fasting programs, why it is undertaken and why it should not be embarked upon by those in poor condition or health. This post allows you to breathe a little easier now because it is written in a style and manner that I enjoy above all others. It is all about promoting the correct motivations and inspiring others as far as possible. This is what makes my day. If I can get across to just ten, twenty, thirty or even sixty folks reading this post tonight, on the joys and benefits of juicing naturally at home, then I will be a happy man and will sleep soundly tonight.
WELL BALANCED DIET
Whether it’s just part of your normal, everyday diet, or part of a ten to sixty day cleansing or fasting program, the juice diet motivates the achievement of all round good health. It does indeed form part of a well-balanced but plant-based diet, assisting the body with weight loss, where it becomes necessary but without starving it of its essential nutrients. While the nutrients are in, see if you can look through the microscope. There’s actually a lot more going into the juiced up glass than a normal plate of food. So, we could call this a jug-full of micronutrients.
Taste can be an issue, but as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing more delicious. Just remember that as you scroll or page through your juicing diet recipes, there’ll always be a batch of essential or optional ingredients, such as turmeric, ginger and horse radish to spice up the taste of your fruit and vegetable juice cocktail. For those always in a hurry ( they shouldn’t be) juicing at home is beneficial because with the right ingredients and apparatus to hand, it doesn’t take longer than ten minutes to conjure up something healthy and spicy.
Apart from the fruit and vegetable juice, no matter which recipe you’ve chosen from your recipe book, retaining all its essential nutrients, just remember that the juice is an effective immune booster. Yes, that’s right, it boosts your immune system, and subscribing to a regular glass of juice or taking part in a fast at least once a year, can assist you in never getting sick. The fruit and vegetables in this form unlock digestive enzymes usually buried in a whole fruit or vegetable. Also, this highly soluble and digestive fruit and vegetable juice is packed with vitamins, essential minerals and phytonutrients. So there you have it. You now have nutrients, micronutrients and phytonutrients.
Because the detox diet strictly forbids the inclusion of fibrous ingredients, or at least includes a bare minimum, the body’s digestive tract, having already been thoroughly prepped before embarking on the detox diet by way of staying off processed and protein enriched foods, among others, the process of passing and then eliminating waste will be smooth, if you pardon the expression. Also, there is little or no discomfort that would normally have been felt during conventional eating habits. But best of all, your digestive tracts are now clean.
In the earliest days of my own fasting, whether deliberate or unintentionally, I found it quite difficult for me to focus my mind on the tasks at hand. Now, just remember that the expression here is wholly personal, so it does not mean to say that everyone will be feeling the same way. Some people are a lot stronger than others. Some people have more willpower than others. And then some people are genetically or through good life choices (or both) are a lot healthier than others. So, these superior beings, as it were, will have an easier time than others when embarking on the detox diet for the first time.
But I am willing to wager that even the strongest amongst us, whether mentally or physically, may experience some discomfort in the first few days. But persistence is the watchword. Getting over the first hurdle is always the most difficult. After that, negotiating the next ten, twenty, thirty, or even sixty hurdles is easier than anticipated. The body has become acclimatized to the change. It is resilient to the core and can now withstand new challenges or taste sensations whiffed in front of it.
My positive to take home with me on the matter of what one goes through during the detox program is the changes one begins to see and feel over time. Psychologically, I am more focused and do not give in easily to material temptations. As a professional, I am more disciplined and proactive with my daily tasks, however mundane or taxing they may seem at first. Like fasting for a few weeks, once the job is done, the reward comes. It is time to kick off those slippers and relax a little. The break is earned and the conscience is clear.
ALWAYS CLOSING ON A HIGH
Clear as daylight. Not only is my conscience clear, but my bowels are too. You see, I never told you this before but I have a spastic colon. It is not extreme and always required me to modify my diets and eating habits previously, something that I did not do. Now, it feels wonderful to have a clear digestive tract. It feels quite comfortable too. Also, my body and mind has somehow trained itself to consume less than what it had done in the past. Having lost quite a bit more healthy weight, I am better for it too.
