Hello everyone, this is Markus speaking. Thanks, everyone, for taking time out to follow my blog. Hope you will be taking a few more minutes of your time to read some of my glorious posts solely devoted to the awesome world of making your own fruit and vegetable juice instead of just dashing off to the supermarket or corner store to buy a plastic bottle of a more tepid, watery and very sugary reproduction of what is labeled as fruit or vegetable juice.
This blog is all about the world of the healthy alternatives that can be derived from manufacturing your own fruit and/or vegetable juice. And it’s not just about health matters per se, it’s also about the aesthetics and esthetics of organic juicing and scrounging about for more delicious juicing recipes, most of which are quite healthy for you anyway. This particular page, however, is all about me. It tells the tale of the tape, if you will.
The next post will serve as a detailed introduction on what’s going to be included in this entire blog. Of course, during that narrative, it will too early to tell you all what happens afterwards. Let us stay with the here and now then, shall we. Refreshingly, if you pardon the expression, my intro here, and the posts that will follow, is based on personal experience. Of course, it goes without saying that most of the informative prose, the juicy tidbits in other words, is based on fact and never on fiction.
We have come a very long way from the olden days when our fathers, or even grandfathers, would spend a Saturday afternoon over the kitchen sink peeling one orange after another and then proceeding to squeeze one freshly peeled orange after the next. Today, in as much as we all wouldn’t mind having a nice freshly squeezed glass of cold orange juice, not so much because it’s actually extremely good for us, but because most of us enjoy the marvelous taste, no one has the time of day to spend not even two hours zipping through a pocket of oranges and squeezing them out.
I discovered the wonderful world of homemade juicing quite late in life. But as they say, you are never too late to learn new things, particularly when they happen to be so good for you. It was a few years after I discovered the culinary art of doing one’s own cooking, also a late personal discovery. As I type this post for you now, I am still only on a path of new discoveries. And what I learn along the way, I will most certainly be sharing it with you.
Hope you enjoy them, and where there are warnings, hope you heed them as well. But most of the news and information on the various techniques and motivations for juicing will be wholly positive. Because, as I’ve already alluded, natural, freshly-squeezed fruit juice is extremely good and healthy for you. There are no arguments or ifs or buts about this declaration. The thousands of men and women who have already been converted to the holistic practices of own juicing will all testify to this fact.
My biggest motivation for wanting to try out juicing was due to poor health. I was losing energy daily. I picked up a lot of weight too. During those weight-gain days, I was living life as though I were a king. I was leading a foolhardy life, never taking note of the warning signals in regard to psychological and physiological health, never taking note of the warnings related to how well I was managing my personal life, my finances and my work life. And then suddenly one day, my precarious house of cards came crumbling down.
Over a period of months, I now began to lose weight. Fancy that, folks. Many people reading this post may secretly be dreaming of losing weight. I know I did too, once upon a time. But only now, I had lost weight for other reasons not entirely related to leading a sedentary life and eating all the wrong foods, usually processed and oversaturated with excess amounts of sugar, salt and fat. My gosh, will you look at the time, folks.
It seems just five minutes ago that I began introducing you to myself. But no matter, there is still enough time to fill you in on the style to be followed in this blog. I may just carry on with my personal journey towards the world of juicing in the next big post which is going to serve as an introduction to juicing. Thereafter, as will be the case now, remarks, thoughts and information shared will be serialized. It will be a carryover from the previous post.
